Nickel-Era Touring Register

The nickel era as defined for this register is 1913 through 1929. Some automobiles came from the factory with all nickel plating prior to 1913 and are welcome in this register. Some automobiles had a combination of nickel, silver and chrome over nickel through 1929. All automobiles in this registry must be model year 1929 or earlier. Many automobiles manufactured in the "nickel era" have little or no nickel but fall into the nickel era unless it came with brass trim such as the brass pre-1916 Model T Fords and other cars that have no nickel plating on them and came from the factory with brass trim. These pre-1916 automobiles are considered brass era cars. It is the goal of this register to promote membership in HCCA and enhance the benefits of membership in HCCA by promoting active touring by members who own automobiles, motorcycles and trucks manufactured during the nickel era as defined above.

HCCA "Nickel Era Touring Register" tours will be open to HCCA "Nickel Era Touring Register" members only. Maintenance of active and current membership in HCCA is required for membership in Regional Groups. the HCCA "Nickel Era Touring Register", and all other HCCA registers. Some nickel era automobiles qualify for both brass era and nickel era tours as they originally came with nickel but qualify also for brass era pre-16 National tours. Brass era trimmed automobiles may attend by invitation by the tour planners or a planned combination tour. "HCCA National Tours" are only open to automobiles manufactured before January 1916 as a stated in the bylaws.

HCCA National tours are still limited to pre-1916 automobiles and no intent was made to change the cut-off year for the brass-era National tours with this register.

To be considered for membership, HCCA "Nickel Age Touring Register" cars must be original or restored in appearance and function using authentic parts or remanufactured parts appropriate for the original year of manufacture including engines, wheels etc. and fall into the "Nickel Era Touring Register" membership requirements. The purpose of this register is to authentically preserve automobiles of ancient age and tour with automobiles of the nickel era. No street rods or replica automobiles are accepted.

HCCA "Nickel Era Touring Register" is a national register authorized by the Horseless Carriage Club of America. Tours may be held in different geographic areas depending on the desires of the register members.
